Powerful Neretva River

English

Neretva River

Neretva River is very important for the area of Herzegovina, and it has always been since it has enabled the growth and progress of the human community. If the Neretva would not be mentioned in the stories about Bosnia and Herzegovina it would be like talking about Egypt without mentioning the Nile.

This emerald jewel of Bosnia and Herzegovina has created fertile fields from Glavatičeva to Doljanja, where most of the flora and fauna of this region are located. Neretva River runs in the Zelengora Mountain, located in Sutjeska National Park, flows between the massifs Visočica and Bjelašnica on one side and the massive mountain Prenj on the other. From the very beginning, the Neretva River runs north, but in the encounter with the mentioned massifs it loses its battle and turns to the south and passes through Konjic, after which it forms an artificial lake Jablaničko, continues through Jablanica and Mostar, after which it loses traces of the fast mountain river and starts lightly to reach the end destination, the Adriatic Sea.

Neretva River is fast, clear, green and clean, so pure that in the canyon itself, where you go on  rafting,  you can drink the water  directly from the river. It is a mountain river that in one part, just before Konjic, passing through the deep canyon provides a unforgettable experience for all racers who are looking for good fun and adrenaline, who also love the cost of nature’s beauty. Rafting starts in Glavatičevo valley and ends in Konjic, allowing you to pass about 23 km of river through canyons decorated with waterfalls, beside small beaches and clear tributaries.
